The City of Boise has developed a stormwater management program to help protect the water quality of the Boise River and to comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. The City of Boise is the lead agency for public education and outreach initiatives on behalf of the Partners.

The City’s Stormwater Management Ordinance and Design Manual identify requirements for stormwater runoff from land development and construction projects.  The city is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the stormwater system on city owned properties.  Additionally, the city operates a number of drainage systems in the Boise foothills to manage runoff from these areas during extreme rainfall or snowmelt events.
